The Future of Learning Things

The industry of architecture, engineering, design, and construction is pushing the limits of what we thought was possible when it comes to building and designing things. Autodesk University in 2014, and again in 2015, is themed the “The Future of Making Things.” The revolutionary software is creating revolutionary projects that will revolutionize the way we live. The way we learn things is also changing. Here’s how.

Future of Learning is in the Cloud

As our world becomes more interconnected with technology, students are no longer confined to specific institutions or geographies. Rather, learning is becoming a more holistic, immersive experience, where students are learning at their own pace, on their own time, and on their own terms. By putting educational materials in the cloud, we are allowing students to take control of their learning and to use resources not only for instructional purposes but also as a future reference.

Asynchronous Learning is the Future

Time is our most valuable commodity. If learning resources are to survive the test of time, they must support live integration and online components that permit asynchronous, just-in-time material delivery. With asynchronous learning, students can communicate faster while the material is more accessible, and learning objectives can be met on-demand.

Diversity is the Future

No one learns from reading alone or listening alone. If learning is to become an on-demand productivity tool, it must be engaging and multi-media. Diversity in learning styles must be translated into diversity within learning platforms. For example, at Global eTraining, we use VARK (Visual, Aural, Read/Write, Kinesthetic) to accommodate all learning styles to ensure learner adoption and success.

The Future is Now

The future of learning things lies in accessibility, variety, and flexibility of learning materials. Whether you are trying to learn to use a software product, looking to improve a skill or undergoing on-boarding or corporate training, you succeed when your learning is positively correlated with your productivity. That happens when a learning platform is aligned with your needs and understands the way you learn.
